Spring is nearly here which tends to prompt a wave of de-cluttering and organization, but so is the time to clean every surface in sight— and that means your car!
Chances are there are dozens of surfaces inside your vehicle that haven’t been scrubbed in a while. When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of your console? Or wiped down your dash?
These are all excellent tasks to check off your list right now, especially if you find yourself with a little more time at home, and we’re rounding up some great ways to get the interior of your car feeling fresh and clean again!
Keep scrolling to find our favorite six tips for cleaning your car’s interior from your friends at Sudzy Salmon!
Toss the Trash
If it’s been a while since you cleaned out your car, this should be your first priority! We all have trash that accumulates in the doors, on the floor mats, even in the cup holders. Throw away all trash living in your vehicle now, and make it a point in the future to toss all trash every time you get out.
Ditch the Dust
The dash is notorious for attracting dust, so why not start keeping a microfiber cloth or even duster in the car? Every time you notice a light layer of dust particles (or heavy layer, we won’t judge) have settled, you can grab your duster wand and clear them out!
Stop the Stickiness
We’ve all been there— we take a drink in the car, set it in the cup holder, hit a bump in the road, and it spills. If you’re a coffee drinker, chances are you’ve spilled coffee somewhere in your car a time or two. So how do you stop the stickiness from building up in those cup holders? Try using silicone baking cups inside each cup holder to catch any spills. You can easily remove them and wash them later, much easier than wiping out residue that builds up over time.
Use Microfiber Cloths
Did you know that a damp microfiber cloth will actually remove 99 percent of bacteria inside your car just because of its unique fiber structure? Wet down a microfiber cloth and use it on your steering wheel and dashboard and for future, keep an extra in your glove box!
Use Center Console Tools
Two of your best friends when trying to clean out the debris in your center console will be a dry toothbrush and canned air (yes, the kind you use to clean your keyboard crevices). You’ll want to really scrub each crack and crevice to remove crumbs, dirt, dust, and more. If your console has pieces that can be removed to clean, be sure to take advantage of that.
Use a Seat Cleaning Solution
If you have cloth seats riddled with stains, you can mix a cleaning solution of one cup water, a half cup vinegar, and half tablespoon of dish soap to remove them. Put it in a spray bottle, spray on stains, and blot with a microfiber cloth.
If you have leather seats, you can finely mist your seats (in a spray bottle also!) with a solution of water and a couple of drops of dish soap. Then just wipe them down until dry!
Now is the time to get your vehicle’s interior feeling clean and fresh and if you notice the exterior could use a good scrub too, be sure to visit us at the Sudzy!
